Coorg could be one of the major tourist hot spots provided the government accords importance to marketing and promotion of its tourism potential.The karnataka tourism board must devise the marketing strategies and reinvest the revenue from the sector for promotion and brand creation.The only way to brand creation is by introducing it to the world market(includes in and around karnataka also).The target audience for tourism could be vast,teenagers,mid- aged people etc.Can classify the number of tourists in coorg specifically during season and off season periods.Karnataka has a tough competition with the neighbouring states of Goa and Kerala in wooing both local and foreign tourists.The goverment of Karnataka has doubled the allocation made to tourism-from Rs 50 crore to over Rs 100 crore for further improvisation of tourism in the state.
As to why i have discussed about the working of Karnataka tourism is because coorg is one of the major tourist spots in karnataka attracting a large number of people with uniqueness in its culture.Coorg contributes drastically in increasing the revenue of the state through tourism.Out of that 100 crore funded from the government for karnataka tourism about 30 crore goes to coorg for the development of tourism out of which 6 crore is set aside for only advertising on tourism and the rest for maintainance and development of the place. Apart from this, the resorts and homestays,the coorg wildlife society,coffee board and the local people would contribute a certain amount summing upto about Rs 60 lakhs.On the whole the budget would add upto 12 crores for advertising.
